The portrayal of alchemists as delusional frauds is largely fictional rather than factual. In reality, the primary goal of alchemists is to attain spiritual perfection, with their pursuit of unlocking the secret to turning base metals into gold being of secondary importance. The transmutation or transformation of ordinary metals into precious gold serves as a symbolic representation of the inner journey of self-transformation.

Nevertheless, alchemists diligently explore the enigmatic Philosopher's Stone, which is not only believed to enable the creation of gold but also possesses miraculous healing properties. Through their endeavors, alchemists developed apparatus and discovered processes that form the foundation of modern chemistry.

Alchemy, known as the Art of the Sun, carries profound symbolism. It represents the path of transforming an ordinary individual (depicted as lead) into an enlightened being (symbolized by gold). The various stages of chemical transformation serve as a metaphor for the Magnum Opus, the Great Work of the Spirit.

Alchemy remains relevant as it allows us to comprehend what is permissible, for the concept of the "philosopher's stone" is an open declaration. It signifies the notion of transforming even the most ordinary aspects into perfection. Unlike chemistry, which views matter solely as mechanical or chemical energy, thereby rendering the principle of life passive, alchemy regards this principle as formative and capable of awakening existence. When we infuse matter with the vitality of life, with Divinity, we gain the power to shape, guide, and ultimately create a world of wisdom.

Alchemy serves as a universal science of transformation, offering ideas that yield fruitful outcomes. It teaches us that each person possesses a unique mission and purpose in life, though many may be unaware of it. However, the essential aspect lies in performing acts of kindness towards others, as we ourselves are unaware of the treasures we may uncover and how we shall attain them. Only by following our hearts can we reach and receive our destined treasures.

The primary process in brandy production is distillation, a technique discovered and utilized by ancient alchemists. The procedures involved in brandy-making mirror the seven stages of transformation in alchemy. The fundamental and collective expression encapsulating these processes is "Solve et coagula," meaning "dissolve and coagulate." The pursuit of experimentation and scientific discoveries aligns harmoniously with knowledge and the self-discipline required for continuous improvement and the quest for perfection.
